Shawndra McDonald quickly established herself as one of the most talented point guards in Presidents’ Athletic Conference history. The 5-foot-3 guard overcame her diminutive stature with lightning quickness and the ability to score from many different spots on the court.
McDonald finished her career as the program’s all-time assist leader with 482, a record which still stands today. She also remains fourth in W&J history with 1,536 career points and was second at the time of her graduation.
A selection to the PAC’s 60th anniversary women’s basketball team, McDonald also graduated as the program’s all-time three-point field goal leader (175). That record stood for six years and is still second in the record books. McDonald made 38 percent of her career three-point attempts.
On January 26, 2002, McDonald produced one of the top offensive scoring games in school history as she pumped in 36 points (tied for seventh-best single game total in program history), while also dishing out seven assists, during a 76-73 victory over Waynesburg.
A three-time First Team All-PAC choice, the point guard led W&J to a second-round home game in the 2003 NCAA Division III Tournament after the Presidents claimed the PAC title and finished with a 23-2 overall record. She also helped the 2004 squad advance to the ECAC South Division III Tournament championship game. Her teams produced a combined 66-39 record (.629) during her years on campus.
The 2004 Walter C. Cooper Female Athlete of the Year award winner also participated for the W&J track & field team for two years and was the 2002 PAC runner-up in the high jump (4’8"), while placing third in the 400 meters (1:11.30) as a freshman.
