Wesley Koteski '02 graduated as the Presidents’ all-time wrestling victories leader and still remains fourth with a 108-29 career record. A selection to the Presidents’ Athletic Conference’s 60th anniversary team, Koteski is one of only five wrestlers in program history to amass 100 victories.
As a freshman, Koteski was one of five W&J wrestlers to capture a conference title in leading the Presidents to their fifth PAC team championship in school history. Koteski, who wrestled in the 184-pound weight class, finished that season with a 24-10 overall record.
During his sophomore year, Koteski racked up a 26-5 record en route to a second place finish at the NCAA Division III Regional Tournament. As a junior, Koteski produced a 28-6 record and claimed a NCAA regional title and qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament in Iowa. He was also named the team’s MVP.
The Presidents posted a perfect 7-0 dual-meet record during his final collegiate season as he joined teammate and fellow W&J Hall of Famer Kevin Dejuliis ’03 as the first Presidents in history to rack up 30 single-season victories. Koteski is also only one of four wrestlers at W&J to win four consecutive PAC championships. He was the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Most Valuable Wrestler during his senior campaign, as well as qualifying for the NCAA Division III National Tournament for the second time. He defeated Levi McVey of Western Maryland by a 6-3 count at the national tournament.
Koteski finished his career with 34 victories by fall and 161 takedowns.
Wesley went on to obtain his MBA from the Katz School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh and currently is a Project Manager with Westinghouse. He resides in Murrysville, Pa. with his wife (Jennifer) and son (Lincoln).
