How it Happened: Washington & Jefferson led, 3-2, after a quarter and trailed by a one at halftime, 8-7, but a fourth-quarter rally fell short in a 16-13 loss at No. 16/Division III No. 1 Whittier to close out the Presidents' trip to Southern California.
Top Performers: Patrick Fredrick had one of the top performances of the season, recording a game-high eight goals, including hat tricks in the second and fourth periods and a pair of scores in the opening stanza against the Poets.
The Rest: Nick Willison,
Owen Hanna,
Benjamin McGrath and
Collin Higgins each tallied single scores and
Zach Bacchus made five saves in three quarters.
What's Next: The Presidents will be idle until the weekend of Oct. 24-25 for the Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Championship at Connecticut College in New London, Conn.
