Late Goal Sinks Presidents in 1-0 Loss to Pitt-Greensburg

WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Washington & Jefferson College women's soccer team (1-2) held its home opener against Pitt-Greensburg (2-2) Wednesday evening in a non-conference matchup at Alexandre Stadium. The Presidents fell 1-0 to the Bobcats.

The first half was a battle of possession, as each team sat with just three shots. The game was scoreless two-thirds of the way through, before Pitt-Greensburg found the back of the net in the 67th minute. Neither team found the goal thereafter, as two late shots on goal from the Presidents were saved to keep the Bobcats ahead.

The tight affair was matched on the stat sheet, with W&J getting off nine shots and six on goal, compared to eight shots with five on goal for Pitt-Greensburg.

Alexa Taylor (Aliquippa, Pa./OLSH) and Madison Rose (Butler, Pa./Butler) each had multiple shots for the Presidents, with both putting two of three on goal. Zailey Tillar (Annapolis, Md./Key School) and Ally Zidek (New Kensington, Pa./Kiski Area) each added a shot on goal.

Adysson Davis (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) played the full 90 minutes in net and made four saves on five shots on goal.

W&J will host La Roche for the final matchup ahead of Presidents' Athletic Conference play on Friday (Sept. 11). The opening touch is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
