W&J ATHLETICS - FACILITIES OVERVIEW

Alexandre Stadium Overhead 2 - Fall 2020

Alexandre Stadium - Alexandre Stadium hosts the college’s men’s and women’s soccer teams in the fall and the men’s and women's lacrosse squads in the spring season. A FieldTurf representative indicated that Ross Memorial Park and Alexandre Stadium combined represented the largest continuous artificial playing surface in the world when it was installed in 2003.

Brooks Park

Brooks Park - The home site for the Washington & Jefferson College softball team, Brooks Park, underwent major renovation in 2004. Brooks Park is enclosed by an outside fence and is handicapped accessible with ramps leading to the bleachers. The dimensions of the field are 200 feet down the lines marked by foul poles and 205 feet to straight away center field. It has a bullpen on both the home and away sides of the field. It has a sport-specific scoreboard and a flag pole that is located behind the right field fence.

Cameron Stadium 2022

Cameron Stadium - In 1885, Washington & Jefferson College purchased eight acres of the old Washington Fairgrounds on the south side of the City of Washington to use the property as a site for football games. Since then, the facility that was once known as College Park has been the site of numerous historic collegiate and high school games. In phase one of the restructuring, an eight-lane, all-weather outdoor track was added as well as the installation of a new playing surface. Debuting in 2000 was phase two of the restructuring of Cameron Stadium, also the home of W&J field hockey and track & field.

Henry Natatorium 2019

Henry Natatorium - The Henry Memorial Natatorium is located inside of the Henry Memorial Center. It serves as the event center for the College’s men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams as well as the men’s and women’s water polo squads. The natatorium consists of a six-lane, 25-yard pool, ranging from four to seven feet. Diving boards (one- and three-meters) are located in a huge and beautiful diving-well area.

James David Ross Family Recreation Center on October 21, 2019

James David Ross Family Recreation Center - The James David Ross Family Recreation Center opened its doors to the Washington & Jefferson College community in April 2017. The recreation center annexes to the Henry Memorial Center which has long been the home of athletics at W&J. The 30,000-square foot facility features a three-lane, 167-meter walking/running track, three multi-sport athletic courts marked for basketball, volleyball, and tennis, a new wrestling room, and a general exercise room for activities like yoga and pilates.  Offices and recruiting spaces for the athletics department are also included.

Ross Memorial Park - The most recent addition to the athletic facilities at Washington & Jefferson College are Ross Memorial Park and Alexandre Stadium. Alexandre Stadium hosts the college’s men’s and women’s soccer teams in the fall and the men’s and women's lacrosse squads in the spring season, while Ross Memorial Park serves as home to the W&J baseball team. Ross Memorial Park served as the site of the NCAA Division III Baseball Mideast Regional in three consecutive years (2015, 2016 and 2017). Ross Memorial Park was just one of eight regional sites across the country during those seasons.

Salvitti Family Gymnasium 2020 vs Saint Vincent

Saivitti Family Gymnasium - Salvitti Family Gymnasium serves as the home site for the wrestling, volleyball, and basketball teams, with a capacity of 2,000 bleacher-style seats. The third floor of the building was newly renovated to feature the Eaton Fitness Center. The bottom floor houses the locker room facilities as well as the athletic training room. An equipment room located next to the athletic training room is where the student-athletes have their practice and game clothes washed and stored. The Henry Memorial Center opened on February 6, 1970, and serves as the home for W&J volleyball, basketball, wrestling, swimming/diving and water polo. The Henry Memorial Center houses a performance gymnasium and the natatorium. The structure underwent extensive renovations during the summer of 2019.

Swanson Tennis Center

Swanson Tennis Center - With it's completion in September 2015, the brand new Janet Swanson Tennis Center serves as the home site for the W&J men's and women's tennis teams. Situated behind Greek Row on the upper North end of campus just off East Chestnut Street, the new Swanson Tennis Center features six fully lit courts with a central observation area.  The tennis center also has two bathrooms, an equipment storage building, a beautiful brick entryway and spectator seating around the perimeter of all six courts.
