WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College football team will look for it's 700th win in program history on Saturday, Sept. 20 when the Presidents host Carnegie Mellon at 1:30 p.m. at Cameron Stadium.
Whenever W&J reaches the 700-win plateau, it will be just the third NCAA Division III school to reach the milestone and 25th in all NCAA Divisions.
Here's a look back at some of the other milestone wins in the history of the program.
100 – W&J 29, Marietta 0 – Washington, Pa. -- College Park  -- Sept. 24, 1904 Team Captain: Leo W. Gibson
Washington & Jefferson blanked Marietta in the 1904 season opener, one of five shutouts by the W&J defense that season. Head Coach W.B. Seamon had 23 players on the 1904 roster, including running back Roy Hupp who scored a W&J single-game record six touchdowns the following year versus Ohio University, a record which still stands today.Â

200 – W&J 12, Rutgers 9 – New York, N.Y. -- Polo Grounds – Nov. 30, 1916Team Captain: Byron Wimberly
First-year W&J Head Coach Sol Metzger led the Presidents to a hard-fought win over the Scarlet Knights, who were celebrating the institution's 150
th anniversary. W&J legendary tackle and Pro Football Hall of Famer Wilbur "Pete" Henry led the charge for the Presidents. William "Scrubby" McCreight returned a punt 80 yards for a touchdown and kicked a pair of field goals.Â

300 – W&J 26, Wooster 0 – Washington, Pa. -- College Field – Nov. 16, 1935Team Captain: Anthony Paulekas
Touchdowns by Glenn Etzweiler, Joe Hardy, John McBurney and Mike Merlo helped the Presidents defeating the Fighting Scots in the 1935 home finale. Following the 1935 season, W&J center Tony Paulekas was selected to the national college all-star team which played an exhibition game against the Pittsburgh Pirates (which became the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1939).Â

400 – W&J 25, Bethany 20 – Bethany, W.Va. – Bison Stadium – Nov. 10, 1973Team Captain: Peter Stracci
Bill Martin scored three touchdowns and Thad Ozimek's passing lifted Washington & Jefferson to a thrilling five-point victory in the season finale. First Team All-PAC selection Peter Stracci also starred for the Presidents.Â

500 – W&J 33, Rochester 6 – Rochester, N.Y. – Fauver Stadium -- Oct. 20, 1990 Team Captains: Dave Conn, Gary Galuska, Mike Koffler, Larry Pitts, Stephan Swentkowsky
W&J celebrated 100 years of college football with Hall of Fame Coach John Luckhardt. The Presidents brought the nation's eighth-ranked defense into the game and limited Rochester to just 10 rushing yards. Stephan Swentkowsky and George Kidwell both had two sacks, while Gilbert Floyd picked off a pair of passes. W&J improved to 6-0 on the season after 111 rushing yards from Chris Babirad, while Larry Pitts gained 82 yards on the ground and scored twice.Â

th-ranked W&J received 268 passing yards and three touchdowns from Chris Edwards and the program's all-time leading tackler Eric Field had 12 stops. The W&J defense forced four turnovers in front of 3,798 fans as
Mike Sirianni recorded the fourth victory of his first season as head coach. Â
