PAC tabs Ruffing as Offensive Player of the Week

GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Presidents' Athletic Conference announced Washington & Jefferson running back Ryan Ruffing has been named the league's Offensive Player of the Week for October 19.

Ruffing (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) helped lead No. 16/18 W&J to a 66-42 win over Bethany at Cameron Stadium on Saturday night and improve to 5-1 on the season

Despite playing just one drive into the second half after W&J built a 59-21 lead three minutes into the second 30 minutes, the senior running back accounted for 170 yards from scrimmage on only 19 touches. He rushed 17 times for 116 yards and three scores and caught two passes for 54 yards. His rushing total marked the 14th time in the last two seasons that he has gone over 100 yards in a game.

Through six games, Ruffing ranks fifth in all of Division III with 13 rushing touchdowns and 13.0 points per game after leading the nation in rushing TDs and ending up third in scoring last season.

W&J will hit the road for Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday in a battle of two of the PAC's top teams against Case Western Reserve, who enters 5-1 also and 5-0 in the PAC.
