WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Washington & Jefferson has been selected as the fourth seed for the 2017 NCAA Division III Mideast Regional and will open up play against fifth-seeded Misericordia at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 18.
The Presidents enter play as the automatic qualifier and champions of the Presidents' Athletic Conference. W&J is ranked 18th according to D3baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and 28th in the American Baseball Coaches Association. The host team for the regional earned its bid by posting identical 8-1 victories in the championship round over Grove City.
Misericordia enters play after winning its seventh-straight MAC Freedom Championship on Sunday. The Cougars posted an 8-0 defeat of DeSales in the title game.
