Spearman ended his Washington & Jefferson wrestling career with a third-place finish at 125 pounds at the 2016 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships. After assuring himself All-America honors on Friday night, Spearman moved toward the consolation finals on Saturday. He opened the morning with a 17-5 major decision before scoring a 7-3 consolation semifinal victory. The consolation final saw the W&J senior earn a 3-2 decision, securing him third place at 125 pounds, the fourth best showing for a President at the National Championships, and ending his career with 103 victories -- the fourth-highest total at W&J.
