Dale Boring Named Head Cross County/Track & Field Coach

WASHINGTON, Pa. – Director of Athletics Bill Dukett has announced the hiring of Dale Boring as the new head coach of the cross country and track & field programs at Washington & Jefferson College.

Boring comes to W&J with over a decade of coaching experience at the high school level.  Most recently, Boring served as the head coach of the cross country and track & field programs at Mars High School, located just north of Pittsburgh.  During his time at Mars, he produced 23 total PIAA qualifiers and his 2013 girls' team captured a WPIAL AA Championship.  The 2012 Mars boys' cross country team was the WPIAL AA runner-up.

During the spring season, he led the 2013 Mars boys' track & field team to its first-ever WPIAL AAA playoff appearance and coached three student-athletes to new school records.

"Coach Boring has a proven track record in helping to develop young talent in both cross country and track & field," said Dukett.  "With his experience as a scholastic coach and his training academy, I am confident in his ability to continue the recent success our programs have achieved."

Prior to his stint at Mars, Boring coached seven new sprint event school record holders and a 2010 Section 4-AAA Champion girls' track team at Knoch High School.

In addition to his coaching experience, Boring is the current director and founder of 'Get FAST' camps. He has developed more than 10,000 athletes since the company's inception in 1999.  To date, Boring has implemented speed camps for 58 high school football teams and trained two PA state championship teams, one state runner-up and 18 district championship teams.

"I am ecstatic to receive this opportunity and I can't wait to get started," said Boring, who has been a speaker at the NIKE Coach of the Year clinics since 2003.  I will bring passion, dedication and discipline to the cross country and track & field programs.  I want our teams to win PAC championships.  I'm pretty proud to be a President."

Boring holds both a bachelor's degree (1994) and a master's degree (1997) from Slippery Rock University and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (C.S.C.S.).
