Beaudoin scores game-winner in double OT, 2-1

ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Catherine Beaudoin scored in the 99th minute to send the Washington & Jefferson field hockey team to a 2-1, double-overtime win at Hartwick in Empire 8 play.

The win moves the Presidents to 8-5 on the season and 4-0 in the E8. The Hawks fall to 2-10 this year with an 0-4 mark in the Empire 8.

Lauren Brown scored the game's first goal on a rebound off a Beaudoin shot just 6:40 into play.

The score would hold up until 22 seconds were left in regulation when Hartwick's Mckenzie Bond scored off a cross by Mikaelan Stuilgross.

Beaudoin ended the game with 1:20 left in the second overtime after her shot made it through traffic. Brown assisted on the game-winner.

Thanks to a 10-4 advantage in the second overtime, W&J out-shot Hartwick, 27-25. The Hawks held a 9-1 lead in the first overtime. Brown and Amanda Steffey each had six shots to lead the Presidents. Beaudoin tallied five shots and Gina Taglieri registered four shots.

Morgan Brozena earned the win in goal, making 12 saves in going the distance.

W&J is back in action at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Ithaca in a second-straight Empire 8 match-up.
