WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 Presidents' Athletic Conference match to Geneva at Alexandre Stadium.
With the loss, the Presidents fall to 5-7-0 overall this season with a 1-2-0 mark in league play. The Golden Tornadoes improve to 7-3-3 on the year with a 2-0-1 record in the conference.
The guests got on the scoreboard first at the 34:29 mark when Daniel Cox finished off a cross by PJ Luksik.
W&J answered at 62:31 in the second half when
James Calvert scored from eight yards out off a free kick and the assist to
Anthony Sorco. Geneva, however, re-took the lead just 1:44 later when Alexander Rosenbaum notched a goal on a header following a free kick by Cox.
The Golden Tornadoes held a slim advantage on shots, 9-8, in the defensive battle.
Brian Hanna was the lone President to record multiple shots with two.
Jon Best suffered the loss and made a pair of saves in net.
W&J returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at Point Park. The game was previously scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., but has been moved up to a 6 p.m. start.
