ORANGE, Calif. -- The Presidents closed out their 2014 California trip with a 13-10 loss at Chapman.
With the loss, the Washington & Jefferson men's water polo team concludes the west coast swing with a 1-5 record and fall to 8-9 on the season.
The hosts opened the scoring 52 seconds in, but
Kevin Dunigan was able to tie the game just 59 seconds later, 1-1. Chapman, however, ran off 10-straight goals until W&J's
Carl Krause scored at the 6:45 mark of the third quarter.
After three quarters, Chapman led 13-3 and the Presidents scored seven unanswered goals in the final period, including two each by
Patrick Fredrick and Dunigan.
W&J returns to Henry Memorial Natatorium next Sunday, Oct. 12, hosting Penn State-Behrend (10 a.m.) and Salem International (2 p.m.). If the Presidents defeat the Lions in the first game, they will clinch the first Southern Division West Region title in school history.
