Burzese Leads Presidents Over Golden Tornadoes

Box Score WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Alexa Burzese's 15 points, four assists and three steals helped Washington & Jefferson double up Geneva 76-38 in PAC women's basketball Wednesday night at the Henry Memorial Center.

The Presidents (17-7, 12-5) clinched a Tuesday quarterfinal round home game for next week's PAC Tournament by shooting 51 percent overall (28-55).  W&J limited Geneva to 11 field goals overall, including just four in the opening 20 minutes as the Presidents built a 41-14 lead.

Valerie Dunlap blocked the 133rd shot of her career and is now tied for the program's all-time record with 133.  She shares the record for now with W&J Hall of Famer and 2006 graduate Leigh Sulkowski. Dunlap added seven points and seven rebounds in 18 minutes of action.

Burzese made 6-of-10 shots from the field, including 3-of-7 from three-point range to record her 15 points.  Beka Bellhy also netted 15 points for W&J in 20 minutes of action.  Jaime Tedesco produced a career-high 10 points off the bench for the Presidents, who received 40 points from their reserves.

Geneva shot just 26 percent (11-43) and committed 21 turnovers.  W&J held a commanding 44-21 edge on the boards.

W&J travels to Bethany on Saturday at 2:00 pm.  A win over the Bison would clinch the No. 3 seed in the upcoming PAC Tournament.
