Large First Half Spurt Dooms W&J At Thomas More

Box Score CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. -- Thomas More strung together a 42-2 run during a 13-minute stretch in the first half and cruised to a 93-66 PAC men's basketball victory over Washington & Jefferson on Saturday afternoon at the Connor Convocation Center. 

The Saints (11-9, 10-2 PAC) trailed 8-1 four minutes into the game, but dominated the next 13 minutes, scoring 42 of the next 44 points.  Thomas More held the Presidents off the scoreboard for nine minutes and 40 seconds during the stretch and led 45-19 at halftime. 

During the large Thomas More run, the Saints knocked down nine three-pointers.  The Saints finished the game 18-of-37 from three-point range. 

Nate Bellhy (12-of-19 field goals) led the Presidents (11-11, 6-7 PAC) with 27 points and six rebounds.  W&J shot 40 percent overall, but made only 1-of-12 from three-point distance. 

Thomas More shot 53 percent (32-of-60) from the floor and had 12 different players score.  Spencer Berlekamp paced the TMC offense with 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc. 

W&J looks to get back on track Wednesday night at Grove City (7:30 pm).
