Presidents suffer 5-1 setback to Frostburg State in opener

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson women's soccer team suffered a 5-1 setback to visiting Frostburg State in the 2014 season-opener at Alexandre Stadium.

With the loss, the Presidents start the season 0-1 while the Bobcats move to 2-0.

FSU took a 3-0 lead into halftime and built it to 5-0 after 54th- and 82nd-minute goals. W&J's Mariah Lockard found the back of the net with 18 seconds remaining off an assist by Molly Peddicord for the Presidents lone goal. She scored from around the 16-yard box after the keeper came out to challenge.

The Bobcats out-shot W&J, 20-7, with Tatiana Ruzzini, Hayley Skovira and Jess Skovira each contributing two shots in the loss.

Morgan Kinyon made seven saves in goal while playing all 90 minutes.

W&J begins a five-game road swing on Saturday, Sept. 6 with a 2 p.m. match at Ohio Wesleyan.
