Volleyball opens season with 3-0 loss to Bluffton

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (25-19, 25-10, 25-18) decision to unbeaten Bluffton in the season-opener at the La Roche Tournament.

With the loss, the Presidents begin the season 0-1, but have at least three games remaining in the tournament on Saturday, the first of which is scheduled for 9 a.m. against Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Waynesburg in a non-conference meeting. Bluffton is now 5-0 to start the year.

Alexis Hilzendeger led W&J with seven kills in the match. Nicole Bishwaty added four and Lindsey Bennett collected three kills. Emily Toy posted a team-high seven kills and Megan Stoehr added six assists.

Defensively, Allison Means led with seven digs and Bishwaty added six digs. Hilzendeger led the way with three blocks, including two solo.
