FULL RESULTSWASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson swimming & diving teams dropped Presidents' Athletic Conference action against Grove City at Henry Memorial Natatorium.
The Presidents' women were defeated 171-127, while the men suffered a 164-123 setback. The women's dual meet record now sits at 8-2 overall and 3-2 in the PAC, while the men are 4-5 on the year and 1-3 in the league.
W&J captured the very first event of the day, posting a time of 1:57.85 in the 200 medley relay as
Alexandra Gartner,
Rachel Murphy,
Laura Travers and
Jessica Sweitzer held off Grove City by .26 seconds.
Murphy and Sweitzer later picked up individual victories with Murphy timing at 2:18.08 in the 200 backstroke and Sweitzer winning the 100 freestyle in 54.90.
On the men's side,
Nick Willison picked up a pair of wins in backstroke events, with a 56.76 in the 100, .2 faster than teammate
Mike Magdic and a 2:02.77 in the 200.
Chris Ratliff won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:48.53 and then
Ben Mancini secured a time of 5:14.68 to touch the wall first in the 500 freestyle.
In diving,
Jennifer Suder earned the highest score in both the one-meter dive (230.4, 3.35 better than teammate
Haley Ashner) and three-meter dive (253.10). Joshua Vasko qualified for the NCAA Division III Diving Regionals with his 279.55 in the one-meter and 217.25 in the three-meter.
W&J travels to Erie, Pa., on Saturday, Jan. 17 for a 1 p.m. non-conference dual meet at Penn State Behrend.
