GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson and Grove City tennis teams must wait to see who emerges the winner as the two squads concluded play on Thursday evening tied at 4-4 before darkness caused a suspension of the final flight.
That remaining, unfinished flight is fourth singles where W&J's
Kathryn Chase is knotted with Grove City's Leah Thomsen, through two sets. Chase secured a 6-3 victory in the first set, but Thomsen rallied to win the second by the same margin.
The match is slated to be finished on Monday afternoon, Oct. 5 in Grove City. The Presidents have never defeated the 27-time Presidents' Athletic Conference champion Wolverines, holding an all-time record of 0-38. Until Monday, the Presidents will host Geneva on Friday, Oct. 2 at 4 p.m. in a PAC match and Muskingum on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 10 a.m. in nonconference action.
UPDATE: Thomsen was able to defeat Chase, 6-3, in the third and decisive set, giving the Wolverines the 5-4 victory.
