MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson women's basketball team topped Allegheny College 84-69, with the help of four players scoring in the double digits. The win moves W&J to 3-1 on the season and pushes Allegheny to 2-3.

The Presidents gained a 9-0 lead over the Gators with 5:10 to go in the first quarter that propelled them to maintain it throughout the game. W&J briefly allowed the margin to come as close as two points, 9-7, at 3:31 in the first, but that was as close as it would come for the rest of the evening.

During the second quarter, W&J stretched their lead to 17 at 7:20. Following a three-pointer by Allegheny, the Presidents were able to regain the advantage with a three-pointer from
Danni Medovich, carrying the edge into the half at 37-26.

The beginning of the third quarter saw a rally from the two teams, but it was cut short when
Taylor Cortazzo sunk two free throws, giving the Presidents a 45-31 advantage. Despite the Gators' Delaney Arbore scoring nine consecutive points at the end of the quarter in an effort to make a comeback, W&J managed to hold the lead at 56-47 to end the third.

The fourth quarter saw 13 points from
Beka Bellhy, including the completion of 7-of-9 free throws. The 13 points assisted in putting W&J up by 15 points, ending the game at 84-69.

Cortazzo recorded a double-double for the Presidents by pulling down 10 rebounds and putting up 19 points.

Bellhy led W&J on offense once again, scoring a team-high 22 points, tallying 15 of them in the third and fourth periods.

 Medovich had 15 points, including five three-pointers, one of which put W&J up by 17 points in the second quarter.

Amirah Moore was also in double-digits for the offense, with 12 total points.

On defense,
Danielle Parker registered a team-high of 14 rebounds.

For the game, W&J shot 39.1 percent from the field (27-69), making 44.4 percent of its three-pointers (8-18) and 59.5 percent of its free throws (22-37).

The Presidents will return home to take on La Roche on Nov. 28 at 1:00 pm.
