BLUFFTON, Ohio -- The Washington & Jefferson men's basketball team returned to the court after a three-week hiatus and dropped a 77-55 decision to the host Beavers at the McDonald's Holiday Tournament hosted by Bluffton.
Three Presidents reached double figures on the night, led by
Gianni Buarne's 13 points. Buarne, who was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line also tied for the team high with six rebounds.
Brian Graytok notched 12 points, 10 of which came in the first half, while also playing a game-high 33 minutes.
Wengly Saintlouis joined the duo in double digits at 10 points, all in the second half, on 4-of-7 from the floor.
Darious Singleton tied for the team high with a career-best six boards, while also setting career benchmarks for points (five) and minutes (16).
In total, the Presidents connected on 8-of-10 shots from the free throw line and committed just 11 turnovers, while forcing Bluffton into 12.
The Beavers were led by Thayne Recker who recorded a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
W&J (0-9) has a quick turnaround as it it takes on Illinois College (3-6) in the consolation match-up of the Bluffton McDonald's Holiday Tournament at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 30. The Blueboys fell to Hiram, 71-64, in the first semifinal on Tuesday.
