How it Happened: The Washington & Jefferson men's and women's swimming and diving teams were both topped by Saint Vincent in a Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup, with the men falling 193-101 and the women were downed 156-132.
Top Performers: All five first place swimming finishers were in women's events, with
Jenny Matuszewski,
Alexis Glenn,
Rachel Murphy, and
Laura Travers all at the top of their races. Matuszewski timed at 11:31.33 in the 1000 free, Glenn had a time of 1:02.27 in the 100 back, while the 200 back was won by Murphy at 2:16 and Travers took the 500 free with a time of 5:35.76.
Josh Vasko placed first in both of the one meter dive events with scores of 171.90 and 233.40, while the women divers split with
Kaitlyn Pawcio taking the first one meter event at 177.55 and
Haley Ashner taking the second at 209.85.
The Rest: W&J secured second place in both men's and women's 200 medley relay (1:41.08, 1:55.96) and 400 free relay (3:21.98, 3:49.86).
Along with their first place finish, Matuszewski and Murphy also each had second place finishes, with Matuszewski in the 200 fly (2:26.68) and Murphy with the 200 Individual Medley (2:22.96).
Madison Babicka had a second place showing in the 50 free (25.82) and
Matt Noel timed 23.07 in the 50 free.
What's Next: The Presidents will be idle until the face off at home against Bethany following the holiday break on Jan. 6 at 6:00 pm.
