WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Goucher scored seven-straight goals between the third and fourth quarters to pull away from Washington & Jefferson and earn an 11-6 Landmark Conference men's lacrosse victory on Saturday afternoon at Alexandre Stadium.Â
The Gophers (6-3, 1-1) led 2-1 after one period, but the Presidents (7-2, 1-1) tied the game at the break after scoring three times in the final 6:54 of the second quarter.Â
Chase Bennett netted his first goal of the season at the 3:22 mark to force a 4-4 tie.Â
The Presidents grabbed their first lead four minutes into the third quarter on
Tim Angell's goal; however, the game changed after Conner Annunziato scored at the 8:13 mark, sparking the 7-0 spurt. Pierce Bailey fired in two goals during the run and assisted on two others.Â
Goucher held major advantages in the stat categories, leading in shots (46-22), ground balls (42-14) and faceoffs (14-6).Â
Jacob Succop kept the Presidents in the game after collecting 23 saves in goal.Â
Kyle Heinig had three goals, while Angell netted a pair.Â
