Box Score 2 PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson volleyball team started the 2015 campaign with a 3-0 sweep of Oberlin before dropping a 3-0 decision to Baldwin Wallace to kick off the La Roche Redhawk Tournament.
W&J begins the season 1-1 with two more matches to play at the La Roche tournament on Saturday, Sept. 5. The Presidents will play the host Redhawks at 11:30 am and then challenge Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Chatham at 1 p.m. in a nonconference match-up.
Game scores in the win over Oberlin were 25-18, 26-24, 25-15, while the scores in the loss to Baldwin Wallace were 25-17, 25-13, 25-16.
Against the Yeowomen,
Nicole Bishwaty registered the team lead in two categories: kills (12) and assists (18).
Brooke Lininger and
Sarah Dindak each contributed seven kills, while
Emily Toy handed out 13 helpers. Defensively,
Allison Means posted 24 digs and
Abigail Eich added four blocks in her collegiate debut. Classmate
Madison Lydic and
Taylor Freeman each added a pair of blocks.
Bishwaty recorded seven kills and 12 assists to lead the way versus Baldwin Wallce, with Freeman adding five kills and two blocks. Means had eight digs.
