Field Hockey drops 3-0 decision at Shenandoah

WINCHESTER, Va. -- The Presidents led the game in shots, but were unable to find the back of the net in a 3-0 nonconference loss at Shenandoah.

Washington & Jefferson field hockey moves even to 1-1 in 2015, while the Hornets begin the year 1-0.

Elizabeth Pardo put the hosts on the board 10:31 into the match and later added an insurance goal to make it 3-0 in the 64th minute for Shenandoah.

W&J led both halves in shots, culminating in a 19-14 edge for the game behind a 13-9 lead in the second half. Amanda Steffey led all players with eight shots (six on goal), with Kelly Knisel and Lauren Brown each posting three.

Morgan Brozena made five saves in 70 minutes in cage.

W&J returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 9 when it hosts Bethany at Cameron Stadium for a 7 p.m. nonconference match-up in the 2015 home opener.
