How it Happened: Washington & Jefferson traveled to Grove City where the men fell, 155-135, and the women were topped, 155-133. Â
Top Performers: The women were once again led by multiple first place finishes by
Alexis Glenn and
Jenny Matuszewski. Glenn came away with wins in 100 backstroke (1:02.50) and 200 backstroke (2:15.36). Matuszewski secured first place in 200 butterfly (2:24.11) and 400 individual medley (5:11.30). Matuszewski earned a second place finish in the 1650 freestyle at 19:45.92.
On the men's side,
Zach Lauer placed first in 200 backstroke (2:01.49) and was a part of the men's winning 200 freestyle relay (1:31.65) along with
Nicholas Willison,
Owen Hanna and
Gordy Schroeder.
Josh Vasko once again placed first in both of his events, scoring 257.50 in the men's one meter dive and 233.20 in the three meter.
Theo Skoric also had a consistent performance, securing second place in the one meter and the three meter with scores of 194.85 and 175.75, respectively. W&J also took the third place position in the pair of events, with
Jordan Hosfelt scoring 169.90 in the one meter and
Isaac Penascino with a score of 173.05 in the three meter.
The Presidents split first place performances in women's diving. Freshman
Kaitlyn Pawcio picked up the one meter dive, scoring 216.50 while
Haley Ashner secured the three meter with a score of 203.55.
The Rest: The women also had a victory in the 200 freestyle relay (1:46.68) with the team of
Rachel Nye,
Madison Babicka,
Tara O'Toole and
Laura Travers.
Jack King took first in the 400 IM (4:32.89) and second in the 1650 freestyle for the men.
What's Next: W&J will return home to host a nonconference meet against Penn State Behrend on January 16 at 1:00 pm.
