WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The men's and women's soccer programs of both Washington & Jefferson College and Bethany College will unite behind a common cause when they meet in Presidents' Athletic Conference action on Saturday, October 15.

On that day, where the women's match kicks off first at 1 p.m., followed by the men's action at 3 p.m., the coaches of both PAC rivals will be encouraging all fans attending the contests at W&J's Alexandre Stadium to pitch in to help a long-time member of the college soccer coaching community in need.

Dan "Ned" Kelly has devoted a quarter of a century toward coaching young players at both the youth and college level. He has served as a head coach at both Salem International University and Alderson-Broaddus University (his alma mater), as well as working extensively with Olympic Development Program teams and area travel and cup programs. During this time, Ned has positively impacted the lives of thousands of young players. He currently serves as the coaching director for Mountain State Soccer Club, based in the Clarksburg, W.Va., area.

In June of 2016, Ned and his family tragically lost their home to the devastating flood that hit the residents of Clendenin, W.Va. Although, they were fortunate to suffer no loss of life, a lifetime of memories and possessions were washed away in one cruel event. Quite literally, they lost everything.

Throughout the games between W&J and Bethany on Saturday, Oct. 15, donations will be accepted at a designated location near the stadium entrance gate. While W&J traditionally charges no regular admission fee to attend regular-season contests at Alexandre Stadium, fans are asked to make an "admission donation" on behalf of this very worthy cause. All funds will be presented to the Kelly family on behalf of both the W&J and Bethany soccer community.

For more information, or if you wish to donate but cannot make it to Alexandre Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 15, please contact either W&J women's soccer coach Pete Curtis at pcurtis@washjeff.edu or by phone at 724-223-5251, or Bethany men's soccer head coach Sean Regan at sregan@bethanywv.edu or by phone at 304-829-7238.
