GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson baseball team fell to 1-2 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) with a 5-2 setback against Grove City on Wednesday.

The Presidents and the Wolverines completed the first two innings of the PAC match up without scoring a run. In the bottom of the third, Grove City notched two doubles bringing in a run to take the lead, 1-0.

The Wolverines added another run in the bottom of the sixth with a home run over the right-field fence to extend the margin to 2-0. Grove City prolonged the inning with a double then, later in the inning, the Wolverine runner advanced to third on a fly out. The runner would score after being singled in, improving Grove City's lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the sixth.

W&J cut the deficit to 3-2 in the top of the seventh thanks to
Ryan Sciullo's two-run home run, his first of the year.

In the bottom of the inning, the Wolverines answered with a two-run double into deep center extending the lead to 5-2.

The Presidents went on to load the bases in the top of the eighth, but could not manage to plate anyone as they grounded into a double-play concluding the top half of the frame.

Grove City retired the side in the top of the ninth dropping W&J's season record to 5-6 overall and 1-2 in the PAC. The Wolverines move to 12-5 overall and 4-1 in the PAC.

The win gave Grove City its first series win over the Presidents since 2008.

Washington & Jefferson will host its fourth PAC game when Geneva visits Ross Memorial Park on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
