WASHINGTON, Pa. --Â The Washington & Jefferson volleyball team improved to 6-2 on the season, 1-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference, with a 3-0 win against Saint Vincent where the game score finals amounted to 25-14, 25-20, 25-16.
Madison Lydic (Erie, Pa./Fort LeBoeuf),
Abbey Eich (Greencastle, Pa./St. Maria Goretti (Md.)) and
Julia Bernesser (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler) led the Presidents attack with six kills each with Lydic recording a .750 hitting percentage, Eich recording a .545 hitting percentage and Bernesser recording a .556 hitting percentage. Eich also contributed three digs on defense and two service aces.
Mallory O'Brien (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) recorded a team-high 15 assists and nine digs while
Emily Toy (Freeport, Pa./Freeport) finished with 12 assists.
Allison Means (Connellsville, Pa./Connellsville Area) finished with eight digs and a team-high four service aces.
As a team, the Presidents finished with 30 kills and a .385 hitting percentage for the match, including 13 kills and a .500 hitting percentage in the second set. Defensive play was just as good as the Presidents held advantages in digs (34-27) and blocks (14-5).
The Presidents return to action on Saturday, Sept. 17, when they compete in a tri-match against Thiel (11 a.m.) and Waynesburg (1 p.m.) in Greenville, Pa.
