PITTSBURGH -- The Washington & Jefferson women's soccer team fell to 3-2-1 on the season with a 4-0 loss at Carnegie Mellon on Wednesday night, Sept. 14.
The Tartans began the scoring in the 22nd minute on a Kaily Bruch goal, her third of the season. The Presidents were able to keep the game close, however, as they went into halftime still trailing by a goal.
In the 47th minute, the Tartans scored again off the foot of Alex Moy, her first of the season. The Tartans were able to close out the game with goals in the 63rd and 81st minutes from Ryan Casey and Tori Iatarola, respectively.
The Presidents came close to scoring in the 13th minute when
Tatiana Ruzzini (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) fired a shot off the post. Ruzzini tried again in the 89th minute but the Tartan keeper was able to make a diving save to preserve the shutout.
Allison Rinehimer (Berwick, Pa./Berwick Area) (2-2-1) took the loss in net for the Presidents, making eight saves in 90 minutes. Sarah Mahler (2-0) got the win for the Tartans, making two saves in 90 minutes.
The Presidents return to the pitch on Saturday, Sept. 17, when they travel to Penn State-Behrend for a 2 p.m. nonconference matchup
