Moyer wins men's race and MVP honors at PAC Championships

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Junior Harley Moyer (Akron, Ohio/Firestone) won the men's race by almost 24 seconds to help the Washington & Jefferson men's team finish second at the 2017 Presidents' Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships.

Moyer claimed his first PAC title and Runner of the Year honors after posting a time of 25:29.84, which bested Grove City's Drew Thibault by 23.37 seconds. As a team, W&J finished second behind Grove City by two team points, 60-62.

Trey Razanauskas (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) joined Moyer as First Team All-PAC after placing fourth in 26:05.63, while Grant McCarthy (Harmony, Pa./Seneca Valley) and Shane Burkhart (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) each garnered Second Team All-PAC accolades after coming in ninth and 13th, respectively. McCarthy crossed the finish line in 26:50.99, while Burkhart finished the 8K course in 27:04.49. Alec Drabish (Solon, Ohio/Solon) rounded out the scorers for W&J in 35th place at 28:12.68.

The W&J women placed sixth in the 10-team field, paced by Second-Team all-conference performer Maggie Briceland (Salem, Ohio/United Local), who crossed the finish line 14th with a time of 24:32.66.

Payton McAninch (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) (25:21.26) and Hannah Robart (Johnstown, Pa./Westmont Hilltop) (25:29.18) were within eight seconds and four places of one another in 26th and 30th, respectively. Hannah Lacey (Brownsville, Pa./Bethlehem-Center) was the fourth finisher for the women in 41st place at 26:53.18, while Olivia Trauner (Centerville, Pa./Union City) was three spots behind in 44th at 26:53.36 and Kate Sullivan (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) was right there as well in 45th at 26:59.68.

The two teams will have an idle week before taking part in the NCAA Division III Mideast Regionals in Carlisle, Pa., on Saturday, Nov. 11.
