W&J swept in dual meet at York (Pa.)

YORK, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson men's and women's swimming & diving teams were swept in a nonconference dual meet by York (Pa.) as the men fell by a score of 134-56 and the women were defeated, 124-71, on Saturday, Nov. 11.
 
Zach Lauer (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) won the 100 backstroke (55.73) and helped the 200 freestyle relay (1:35.87) to a win as well, swimming the first leg and followed by Matt Noel (Sewickley Pa./Quaker Valley), Ian Geister (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) and Troy Smith (San Marcos, Calif./San Marcos).
 
Jeremy Glasner (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown Area) tallied an individual win and a third place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.81) and 200 individual medley (2:06.60), respectively. Geister added a third-place finish in the 100 butterfly (57.53).
 
Chloe Magyari (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) led the women's squad with two individual wins, emerging victorious in the 50 (24.96) and 100 freestyles (55.26). Delaney Burke (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) also earned an individual win on the day, finishing the 100 breaststroke in 1:16.80.
 
Tara O'Toole (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills), Kiera MacWhinnie (South Portland, Maine/Waynflete School) Alexandria Daum (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) and Kaitlyn Ewing (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon) combined to win the 200 free relay (1:55.76).
 
Alexis Glenn (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) and Jillian McElhaney (Butler Pa./Butler Area) combined for three third-place finishes, two coming from Glenn in the 200 free (2:03.89) and 100 back (1:04.51) and one coming from McElhaney in the 200 individual medley (2:28.80).
 
Victoria Metz (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) (1:20.00) and Hayley Georgetti (Washington, Pa./Linsly) (1:22.83) finished second and third, respectively, in the 100 breaststroke to round out the top W&J performers.
 
Both swimming & diving teams will get back in the pool on Wednesday, Nov. 15, for a 6:00 p.m. Presidents' Athletic Conference dual meet at Westminster.
