Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving falls to Saint Vincent

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson men's and women's swimming and diving teams both fell to Saint Vincent, 169-87 and 153-123, respectively, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference dual meet on Saturday, Dec. 2.
 
The men were led by Zach Lauer (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) and Ian Geister (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) who both won one individual event and finished as the runners up in an event as well. Lauer was victorious in the 100 backstroke (56.05) and was second in the 200 backstroke (2:04.40) while Geister finished first in the 100 butterfly (56.58) and placed second in the 200 butterfly (2:08.02). The two were also part of the 200 freestyle relay (1:35.68) that earned 11 team points.
 
Ethan Moy (New York, N.Y./Math, Science, Engineering at City College) earned a pair of third-place finishes in the 100 (52.95) and 200 freestyles (1:59.76). Theo Skoric (Vanderbilt, Pa./Laurel Highlands) finished third in the 50 freestyle (24.53) and posted scores of 208.30 and 200.05 in the one- and three-meter diving events, respectively.
 
Jeremy Glasner (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown Area), who was also on the 200 freestyle relay with Lauer and Geister, tallied a third-place individual finish in the 500 freestyle (5:13.60).
 
Alexis Glenn (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) and Chloe Magyari (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) were the top performers on the women's side with Glenn earning a win in the 100 backstroke (1:03.87) and a second-place finish in the 200 backstroke (2:18.96). Magyari, who won the 50 (25.25) and 100 freestyle events (55.25), swam the first leg for the victorious 200 freestyle relay (1:45.58), followed by Glenn, Jillian McElhaney (Butler Pa./Butler Area) and Kiera MacWhinnie (South Portland, Maine/Waynflete School).
 
McElhaney was able to tally a second-place finish in the 100 butterfly (1:08.04) and a third-place showing in the 100 backstroke (1:07.39). Paige Adams (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) posted a pair of runner-up efforts in the 200 (2:14.45) and the 500 freestyles (5:54.07) and Delaney Burke (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) finished second in the 200 breaststroke (2:50.42) and third in the 100 breaststroke (1:18.59).
 
Victoria Metz (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) and Hayley Georgetti (Washington, Pa./Linsly) finished first and second, repectively, in the 200 individual medley with respective times of 2:44.55 and 2:45.94.
 
Kaitlyn Pawcio (Johnstown, Pa./Westmont Hilltop) and Rebecca Kirby (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) competed in both diving events for the Presidents as the only competitors. Pawcio placed ahead of Kirby in both events, tallying a one-meter score of 263.95, which provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Diving Regionals, and a three-meter score of 242.80.
 
The Presidents will return home for their next meet, competing against Bethany on Wednesday, Dec. 6, in a PAC dual meet at 6:00 p.m.
