CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The Washington & Jefferson women's basketball team fell in the Presidents' Athletic Conference semifinals to Saint Vincent, 74-68, on Friday night, Feb. 24.

Leading by eight points entering the fourth quarter, Saint Vincent built a lead as large as 10 points at 69-59 but the Presidents fought to get back in the game with a 9-0 run to trail by just one point with 1:21 remaining. From that point on, the Bearcats held the Presidents scoreless and sank five free throw to yield the final margin.

Through nearly the first six minutes of the game, the Presidents held a slight 9-8 edge over the Bearcats which ballooned to a 15-10 lead over the next two and a half minutes. The Bearcats scored the final five points of the first quarter, however, as the teams were tied, 15-15, heading into the second frame. In the second, the Presidents regained a lead at 21-18 but were outscored, 23-11, over the final 7:28 of the half as the Bearcats went into halftime with a 41-32 lead.

After the Presidents began the second half on a 9-0 run to tie the game, the Bearcats countered with a 9-0 run of their own to regain a nine-point lead. W&J was able to reduce the gap to eight points, scoring seven of the final 13 points of the third as it trailed 56-48 entering the final frame.

Danielle Parker (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) finished the game with a team-high 13 points and a game-high 11 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season.
Taylor Cortazzo (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford) scored 12 points and connected on two three-pointers to finish her career with 129 triples, fourth most in W&J women's basketball history.

Rachel Bellhy (McDonald, Pa./Fort Cherry) and
Danni Medovich (Frederick, Md./Walkersville) both tallied nine points as Bellhy added nine rebounds and a block while Medovich contributed seven boards and five assists.

The Presidents limited the Bearcats to just 34.3 percent shooting from the field in the second half while shooting 48.4 percent themselves. For the game, W&J held advantages in fast break points (4-2), points in the paint (30-24) and second chance points (16-4).
