WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson softball team dropped a pair of home games to Thiel on Wednesday afternoon, April 26, 6-1 in game one and 9-0 in five innings in the second game, in Presidents' Athletic Conference action.

The Presidents scored first in game one when
Meghan Staab (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) reached on an infield single to third base which allowed
Ally Doty (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) to score. Doty reached base by way of a lead off infield single to short and advanced to second after
Jamie Smith (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) walked and then advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt.

Thiel answered with a run on two hits in the top of the third to tie the game back up and proceeded to score four times in the top of the fourth before adding their final run on one hit in the top of the seventh inning.

In the second game, the Presidents were limited to just three hits, two from
Rachel Marx (Oakdale, Pa./West Allegheny) and one from
Taylor Andres (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park), as Thiel scored four runs in the third, three in the fourth and two in the fifth to close the game out in five innings.

Marx's two hits led the Presidents for the day while
Dana Parker (Coraopolis, Pa./Montour), Doty, Andres and Staab rounded out the W&J hitting with one knock each.

Danielle Kochka (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) came on as a relief pitcher in both games, totaling 3.2 innings pitched, and allowed one run (unearned) on three hits with three walks.
Kristen Fuertes (West Chester, Pa./West Chester) and Andres were the losing pitchers in games one and two, respectively.

The Presidents will be on the road for a PAC doubleheader at Waynesburg on Saturday, April 29, with game one beginning at 1:00 p.m.
