How it Happened:Â The Washington & Jefferson men's cross country team finished fifth out of 11 teams while the women's team finished in ninth place of 11 at the Allegheny Classic on Saturday, Sept. 16.
Top Finishers:Â
Harley Moyer (Akron, Ohio/Firestone) led the men's side with a fourth-place individual finish with a four-mile time of 20:08, just five seconds behind John Hughes of Allegheny and Greg Beaudette of Indiana (Pa.) for the best time in the field.
Maggie Briceland (Salem, Ohio/United Local) led the women's squad with a 27th-place finish with a time of 19:34.
The Rest: Ben Heim (Washington, Pa./Washington) and
Trey Razanauskas (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) finished 27th and 29th, respectively, in the men's field as Heim ran to a time of 21:31 with Razanauskas finishing just 12 seconds later.
Grant McCarthy (Harmony, Pa./Seneca Valley) came in 39th with a time of 22:02 while
Alec Drabish (Solon, Ohio/Solon) recorded a time of 22:19, placing him 43rd.
Shane Burkhart (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) and
Billy Lott (Ellwood City, Pa./Ellwood City) rounded out the men's participants as Burkhart finished 50th with a time of 23:06 while Lott placed 55th in 23:34.
On the women's side,
Hannah Robart (Johnstown, Pa./Westmont Hilltop) came in 39th in 20:00, ahead of
Hannah Lacey (Brownsville, Pa./Bethlehem Center) who finished 47th with a time of 20:25.
Payton McAninch (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) placed 58th as she recorded a time of 21:01 while
Haylee Rohrer (Somerset, Pa./Somerset) and
Marygrace Depp (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) finished 66th and 68th, respectively, with Rohrer edging Depp by one second with a time of 21:49.
Kate Sullivan (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) concluded the W&J women's participants with a 70th-place finish in 22:17.
What's Next:Â The Presidents will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 29, when they host the W&J Invitational at Mingo Creek Park in Finleyville, Pa., at 4:15 p.m.
