WINCHESTER, Va. – The Washington & Jefferson field hockey team dropped its second game of the season at Shenandoah (Va.) on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 3, by a score of 2-0.

The game remained scoreless through most of the first half until the Hornets took a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute. It wasn't until the 54th when Shenandoah scored its second goal of the game on a penalty stroke.

Alana Boyd (Alexandria, Va./Thomas Edison) got off two shots in the game, both on goal, as
Sofiya Bobrovnikova (Philadelphia, Pa./Northeast),
Ashley Overton (Fredericksburg, Va./Colonial Forge) and
Michelle Yamamori (San Dimas, Calif./Bonita) each put one shot on goal.

Shenandoah outshot W&J 9-7 in total shots but the Presidents held a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal.

Karlie Baran (Jackson, N.J./Jackson) took the loss in goal for W&J and made one save.

The Presidents will return home for their next game on Saturday, Sept. 9, when they host Houghton in their first Empire 8 game of the season at 1:00 p.m.
