BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson volleyball team was toppled at Geneva by a 3-2 margin with set scores of 26-24, 23-25, 23-25, 25-22, 15-7 in the 2017 Presidents' Athletic Conference opener.
 
The loss puts W&J at 1-3 overall with an 0-1 PAC record. Geneva improves to 2-3 this season and 1-0 in the conference.
 
Madison Lydic (Erie, Pa./Fort LeBoeuf) led the team with 15 kills on a .256 hitting percentage, while 
Rebecca Fallert (Carnegie, Pa./Chartiers Valley) had 13 kills. 
Julia Galbraith (Pittsburgh, Pa./Vincentian Academy) totaled 12 kills and 
Abbey Eich (Greencastle, Pa./St. Maria Goretti (Md.)) tallied 11 for the Presidents' offense.
 
Mallory O'Brien (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) finished with a match-high 46 assists to go along with 17 digs. 
Makenzie Coughlin (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) led all players with a career-high 36 digs. Galbraith was second on W&J with 26 digs, followed by 
Katie Conner's (Pittsburgh, Pa./Vincentian Academy) 24.
 
The Presidents will host a PAC tri-match on Saturday, Sept. 9, facing Waynesburg at 11:00 a.m. and Grove City at 3:00 p.m.
