FROSTBURG, Md. -- The Washington & Jefferson women's soccer team was dealt its first loss of the season on Wednesday, Sept. 6, by nonconference foe Frostburg State by a score of 1-0.
After the game remained scoreless through one half of play, the Bobcats scored the game's lone goal in the 59th minute, thanks to Melanie Bell who put the ball through the top right corner.
Jordan Toohey (Mount Pleasant, Pa./Mount Pleasant/Saint Francis (Pa.)) led W&J with three total shots, including two on goal while
Ashton Grimm (Connellsville, Pa./Connellsville/Saint Francis (Pa.)) fired two shots and put one on net. Nicole Walters (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley),
Josie Madden (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward),
Brianna McGowan (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) and
Alexa Smith each got one shot off in the game with Madden and Smith both putting their attempts on goal.
Allison Rinehimer (Berwick, Pa./Berwick Area) took the loss in net for the Presidents, playing all 90 minutes and making seven saves.
The Presidents will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 9, when they host Wooster in a 2:00 p.m. nonconference match.
