GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Fourth-seeded Washington & Jefferson men's soccer was unable to overcome a quick offensive start by top-seed Grove City, as W&J was dealt a 3-1 loss in the PAC Championship Tournament Semifinals on Tuesday, Oct. 30.
With today's loss, the Presidents end the 2018 campaign with a 6-10-1 overall record. The Wolverines, on the other hand, improve to an unbeaten 7-0-1 against PAC foes, in addition to being 14-1-4 overall.
Despite trailing by three goals after the first half, W&J did not quit and even scored the lone goal of the second half. Sophomore
Drew Williams (Jefferson Twp, Pa./North Pocono) tallied the Presidents' lone goal in the 81st minute. On a fast break for the Red & Black,
Paul Mokrzan (Hilliard, Ohio/Watterson) sent a long cross in front of goal, where Williams calmly headed the ball past the keeper.
Williams, who ends his sophomore season with two goals, posted one of W&J's three shots in the match.
Matt Prezioso (Clairton, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) recorded the Presidents' other two shots. With an assist tonight, Mokrzan finishes the year in a three-way tie for the team lead in points with nine.
Senior
Nick Stasko (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) played all 90 minutes in goal for W&J and made a career-high 12 saves. With 12 stops tonight, Stasko moved into ninth on W&J's all-time saves leaderboard with 160.
