No. 15 W&J eliminated in overtime by No. 6 Salisbury, 1-0

SALISBURY, Md. – A deflection with 1:11 remaining in overtime by No. 6 Salisbury ended No. 15 Washington & Jefferson's season in the Second Round of the 2018 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship.

The deflection came during the 7-on-7 overtime period and came off of a penalty corner by the Sea Gulls that was called after a yellow card had already been issued against W&J, forcing the Presidents to play with a woman down.

The Presidents end a historic season for the program with an 18-2 overall record after surrendering just six total goals in 20 matches.

Sophomore goalie Rena Israel (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) made eight saves on the afternoon, two shy of her career high and tied for her second most in a match this season.

In the match, Salisbury held a 15-1 advantage on shots and 11-2 lead in penalty corners after a 9-0 first half. Senior Rachel Buyan (Huntington Beach, Calif./Edison) recorded W&J's lone shot on the day.
