HIRAM, Ohio -- The Washington & Jefferson men's basketball team was unable to come out on top of a tightly-contested battle against Hiram, as the Presidents suffered an 81-77 loss to the Terriers on Saturday, Nov. 24.Â
With the loss, W&J drops to 2-4 to start the season, while Hiram improves to 2-2 through four games.Â
The Presidents led three times throughout today's game and were as close as two points down (79-77) with just 22 seconds left. The Red & Black stayed in the game by maintaining a .483 field goal percentage (28-of-58), compared to Hiram's .453 (29-of-64). Â
Leading the charge offensively for W&J was
Cameron Seemann (Loveland, Ohio/Archbishop Moeller), who tallied a team-high 15 points with six rebounds in 32 minutes of playing time. The sophomore has scored double-digit points in all but one game this season and he leads the team with 14.5 points per game.Â
Zach Queen (Jeannette, Pa./Hempfield Area) and
Nicholas Campalong (Sewickley, Pa./Ambridge) were next on the Red & Black with 13 points apiece. Queen's scoring output is a career high for the sophomore, eclipsing his 12-point outing against Pitt-Greensburg on Nov. 13 of this season. Campalong added 10 points to his 13 rebounds for his first career double-double, in addition to recording game-highs in steals (3) and blocks (3).Â
Freshman
Primo Zini (Morgantown, W. Va./Trinity Christian) continued his strong play of late, recording 12 points and five rebounds in 23 minutes of action. Zini has scored double-digit points in three consecutive games, all of which he played over 20 minutes. Â
The Presidents begin PAC action on Wednesday, Nov. 28, with an 8 p.m. bout against Saint Vincent at the Henry Memorial Center.
