INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- No. 18-ranked Washington & Jefferson field hockey will host its first-ever home NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship Tournament game on Wednesday, Nov. 7.
The Presidents welcome Rhodes (Tenn.) to Cameron Stadium for a first-round matchup at 4 p.m. Ticket prices are $8 for adults and $4 for students, while institutional and conference passes will not be accepted.
W&J is in the midst of one of its most successful seasons in school history, as it enters Wednesday's game with a program-record 17 wins. On the year, the Presidents are 17-1 overall after earning their third Empire 8 Championship on Saturday, Nov. 3, with a 1-0 victory over St. John Fisher. Wednesday will mark the first time in three NCAA Tournament appearances that the Red & Black will hold a national ranking in the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III Coaches Poll.
Rhodes enters Wednesday's match fresh off defeating Centre in the Southern Athletic Association Tournament title game on Sunday, Nov. 4. The Lynx are 12-3 in 2018 and have won their last four games. Rhodes is no stranger to the NCAA Tournament, as it has made an appearance at the event in three of the previous four years. The Lynx reached the NCAA field as a Pool B selection, which grants entry to schools from conferences without an automatic qualifier.Â
The winner of Wednesday's showdown will then head to Salisbury, Md., for a second-round game against No. 7 Salisbury on Saturday, Nov. 10, at Sea Gull Stadium.Â
For students interested in attending the game, the W&J Office of Student Life purchased a block of tickets that it will hand out on Tuesday, Nov. 6, between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. in the James David Ross Recreation Center lobby. Each student with their school ID will receive one ticket.Â
