LATROBE, Pa. -- Both Washington & Jefferson swimming teams suffered defeats in road action against Saint Vincent on Saturday, Dec. 1, as the women lost 121-75 and the men took a 114-86 setback.Â
With the defeat, the W&J women fall to 1-3 overall and 0-3 in the PAC, while the Presidents' men drop to 1-2 and 0-2 in league play.Â
On the women's side,
Kaitlyn Pawcio (Johnstown, Pa./Westmont Hilltop) and
Kaitlyn Ewing (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon) won individual events today. Pawcio controlled the diving events, winning both one-meter dives with scores of 214.95 and 205.88. Ewing took top honors in the 500 freestyle (6:48.98).Â
Callie Wiebel (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) and
Kimber Randolph (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) also had stellar showings, posting multiple second-place finishes. Wiebel took second to Pawcio in both diving events with scores of 130.65 and 103.58. Randolph came close to winning both the 100 back (1:06.64) and the 200 back (2:29.27), but was just edged in both races.Â
For the men,
Colin Higinbotham (Denver, Pa./Cocalico),
Andrew Ivory (Gibsonia, Pa./Mars) and
Dean Kralic (Beaver Falls, Pa./Riverside) all notched individual wins. Higinbotham led the way by taking first in both the 50 free (21.98) and the 100 free (50.35).Â
Ivory also won two events, topping the field in the 200 back (2:27.28) and the 200 IM (2:12.56). Kralic took first in the 100 butterfly (54:84), in addition to finishing second in the 200 free (1:57.56).Â

Zach Lauer (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) andÂ
Nick Belofsky (Aurora, Ohio/Aurora) combined to win the men's 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:32.55.Â
Both W&J squads will be back in action on Wednesday, Dec. 5, with a road 6 p.m. meet against Bethany.Â
