Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

W&J shines on offense in 77-60 win over Earlham

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Alie Seto (Allison, Pa./Brownsville) scored a season-high 24 points and hauled in nine rebounds to lead Washington & Jefferson women's basketball to a 77-60 victory over Earlham to begin the Cruzin' Classic on Wednesday, Dec. 19.

Following tonight's victory, the Presidents improve to 6-5 overall with tonight's win being their fourth straight. The Quakers, on the other hand, drop to 3-7 in 2018-19.

Seto posted a dominant performance against the Quakers, going 9-for-15 (60.0 percent) from the floor and a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe. The 5-foot-10-inch forward was two points shy of tying her career of 26 that she recorded against Thiel on February 7 of last season.

With Seto at the forefront, the Presidents had their best shooting night of the season, going 30-for-55 (54.5 percent) from the floor. W&J's field goal percentage is its best of the season, while the team's 77 points are tied for its third-highest scoring output.

Danielle Parker (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) and Aleena McDaniel (Morgantown, W. Va./Morgantown) also had strong showings with double-digit scoring efforts. Parker fell one rebound shy of her fourth double-double this year with 16 points and nine rebounds, while McDaniel logged 13 points and three assists.

Lauren Gilbert (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin), Kylie McKennen (Triadelphia, W. Va./Wheeling Park) and Maria Lawhorne (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) all finished with single-digit points but helped the team in different areas of the court. Both Gilbert and McKennen finished tied with a season-high six assists, while Lawhorne grabbed seven boards.

The Red & Black secured momentum in the game with a strong defensive performance in the second quarter. W&J held the Quakers to nine points in the frame, which helped the Presidents secure a 32-21 halftime lead. W&J's strong defense continued for the remainder of the game, as it held Earlham to 20-for-53 (37.7 percent) shooting from the field.

The Red & Black will close out the Cruzin' Classic tomorrow afternoon with a 4 p.m. tilt against The Sage Colleges.
