W&J drops nonconference road game to Ohio Northern

ADA, Ohio – The Washington & Jefferson men's lacrosse team lost on the road to nonconference foe Ohio Northern by a margin of 19-3 on Saturday, Feb. 24.

Pat Heidecker (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area) and Patrick Brunner (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Saint Joseph) combined for the three W&J goals. Heidecker scored at the 9:06-mark in the second quarter followed by Brunner at 3:33, a man-up goal. Brunner added his second goal of the contest in the fourth quarter.

Brunner tallied the assist on Heidecker's goal, giving the freshman his first career three-point game. He took four shots and picked up three ground balls on the day. Ben Ward (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) and Brendan Tribeck (Enola, Pa./Trinity) recorded the other two assists for the Presidents on Saturday. Ward shot once and caused a turnover in the game while Tribeck scooped up two ground balls.

Joseph Tritschler (New Kensington, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) led the team with five ground balls and joined Shawn Wallbillich (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) as the only two Presidents to cause multiple turnovers on defense. In total, 10 different W&J players picked up at least two ground balls in the game.

Noah Cohen (Hewlett, N.Y./George W. Hewlett) suffered the loss as the Presidents' goalkeeper, making 16 saves in net.

The Presidents will return to the field on Wednesday, Feb. 28, for another nonconference road game when they travel to La Roche for a 4:00 p.m. face-off.
