CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The second-seeded Washington & Jefferson women's basketball team fell in the 2017-18 Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship game to top-seeded Thomas More by a final score of 93-51 on Saturday, Feb. 24.
Â
The loss drops the Presidents' overall record to 22-5 for the 2017-18 season. W&J will now await its postseason fate when the NCAA Division III brackets are released on Monday, Feb. 26, at 2:30 p.m. If the Presidents are unable to secure an at-large bid, a potential ECAC Division III South Tournament berth remains a possibility.
Â
Despite being outscored 30-7 in the first quarter, the Presidents continued to fight and held a 20-16 margin in the second frame, trailing 46-27 at halftime. But Thomas More was too strong in the second half as it outscored W&J by five points in the third quarter and never looked back from that point on to claim the PAC Championship.
Â
Danielle Parker (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) led the Presidents with 18 points and nine rebounds in the contest and shot 8-of-19 from the field.
Amirah Moore (Moon Twp., Pa./Moon) pulled down eight rebounds and dished out a team-high five assists and
Mia Woytovich (Charleroi, Pa./Charleroi) grabbed six boards.
Â
Lauren Gilbert (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) and
Taley Dunaway (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) both scored six points and
Alie Seto (Allison, Pa./Brownsville) and Moore tallied five points.

W&J's bench players combined for 14 points in the game while the team scored 16 points in the paint and 14 second chance points.
