WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson women's lacrosse team fell in the 2018 season opener to Frostburg State by a score of 20-10 on Thursday, March 1, in nonconference action.

After falling behind, 1-0,
Rae LaRochelle (East Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich) evened the game with a goal off a pass from
Jenna Allen (Sanford, Fla./Seminole). The Bobcats answered with three consecutive goals before the Presidents found the back of the net again when
Kayla Boulas (North Branford, Conn./North Branford) and LaRochelle scored back to back goals, reducing the deficit to one. Frostburg State then controlled the rest of the half, scoring six more goals while
Caroline Kallos (Reading, Pa./Governor Miffin) and LaRochelle tallied two more for W&J, putting the score at 10-5 heading into halftime.

In the second half, Kallos scored the first goal, followed by Frostburg State notching five in a row en route to a 10-5 second half goal margin to yield the final result.

Kallos led the team with four goals and three assists, to give her 233 career points, one shy of tying the program record held by Courtney Schrock ('11). It was Kallos's 30th career hat trick, her 11th career three-assist game and the fifth time she has logged three goals and three assists in the same game. She also won a team-high six draw controls and tallied a team-best seven ground balls and five caused turnovers in the contest.

LaRochelle and Boulas rounded out the multi-goal scorers with three and two, respectively. It was the 13th career hat trick for LaRochelle and the fifth multi-goal game of Boulas's career.

Sofiya Bobrovnikova (Philadelphia, Pa./Northeast) tallied her first career goal to round out the W&J scoring and
Alexis Miller (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) and
Carli Hopkin (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) added one assist apiece. Hopkin and Bobrovnikova were also among the four Presidents to pick up multiple ground balls.

Sara Maute (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J Roberts) took the loss as the Presidents' goalkeeper, as she tallied 15 saves which tied her career-high set last year against Allegheny on March 8. She also picked up three ground balls.

The Presidents will be back in action on Saturday, March 3, when they host Franciscan at 1:00 p.m. at Alexandre Stadium.
