Men's Lacrosse dealt 12-3 defeat at Susquehanna

SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- The Presidents traveled to an old Landmark Conference foe in Susquehanna on Wednesday, but were turned away by the River Hawks by a 12-3 margin.

With the loss, the Washington & Jefferson men's lacrosse team drops to 1-4 on the season in nonconference action. W&J will step into Ohio River Lacrosse action at 12 p.m. on Sunday, March 4 when Mount St. Joseph comes to Alexandre Stadium, before wrapping up non-league play with matches against Hood and Mount Union on March 7 and 14.

After the first quarter saw the hosts open up a 3-0 lead, Pat Heidecker (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area) got the Presidents on the board with a goal at 12:24 of the second quarter off a feed from Rocco Ruscitto (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin). The Riverhawks added a goal at 7:54 before Mark Mandak (Enola, Pa./Trinity) beat the halftime buzzer when he cut the margin in half, 4-2, heading into the break.

Susquehanna pulled away with a 6-1 edge in the third quarter and capped the evening with a 2-0 fourth period. Dylan Shepherd (Eagle, Idaho/Eagle) tallied W&J's lone marker of the second half at the 1:59-mark of the third period.

Noah Cohen (Hewlett, N.Y./George W. Hewlett) registered 22 saves in goal, the fifth time he's topped 20 saves in a contest in 22 career games.
