CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. -- The Washington & Jefferson softball team was dealt a pair of Presidents' Athletic Conference losses at Thomas More in a battle of previously unbeaten league foes.
W&J dropped the opener by a 6-0 count before falling, 10-1, in five innings of the night cap. The losses drop the Presidents to 6-10 this year and evens their mark in the PAC at 2-2.
Taylor Andres (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) took the loss in the first game, falling victim to three homers in giving up six runs (two earned) in 6.0 innings. Five Presidents recorded a hit in the opener, with second baseman
Rachel Johnson (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) totaling three hits on the afternoon (two in game two), to increase her season-opening hitting streak to 16 games.
Brooke McCleester (Johnstown, Pa./Conemaugh Valley) belted the first homer of her career over the center-field fence in the top of the fifth inning of the night cap.
W&J will next travel to Bethany for a PAC doubleheader, beginning at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 12.
